Listeners join Casey Benedict, an investigative journalist, as she risks all to break a story that will shock the world. The result is a thriller that reflects much about today’s journalism in the UK, as well as raising some uncomfortable questions. Katharine McEwan is the perfect narrator for this story. Her portrayal of the lead characters is spot-on as they dramatize the dog-eat-dog competitiveness of contemporary journalism. McEwan’s characterizations of the male editors and other news staff are particularly strong, giving listeners a sense of the fast pace of the newsroom. As the story moves from country to country, McEwan seamlessly switches accents as required. An interesting but sometimes uncomfortable listen.
