This 3-CD set consists of interviews conducted by Terry Gross with 20 comedians. All of the material aired originally on Gross's popular, award-winning NPR program "Fresh Air." These are interviews about comedy, not comedic monologues, but there is no shortage of jokes and one-liners. Gross is a skilled interviewer, and her subjects constitute a who's who of comedy: Henny Youngman, Phillis Diller, Joan Rivers, Bob Newhart, Al Franken, and Richard Pryor, among others. The set, produced by WHYY, is high quality and nicely packaged. Perfect for fans of "Fresh Air" and fans of stand-up comedy, which should be lots of people.
