When her sixth-grade class has the opportunity to participate in a spelling bee with that very prize, Bird knows she has her chance. Choosing her study partner brings new challenges and, ultimately, unexpected rewards. Julie Dretzin is an outstanding narrator. Her gentle drawl sets just the right backdrop. For each of the characters, she gives a distinctive voice. Dretzin is as excited as the listener by each unexpected twist and turn of the story and keeps a jaunty pace. A.R.
