RAMSES Volume II: The Eternal Temple

by | Read by George Guidall

Fiction • 10 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1996

With the sudden death of the great ruler Seti, young Ramses is propelled into power. The inexperienced Pharaoh is unprepared to rule Egypt, and the ensuing political struggles are deadly. Fortunately for Ramses, he is aided not only by his trusted boyhood friends, but also, apparently, by the gods themselves. This loosely historical novel is simply written and not rewarding for serious readers, let alone earnest Egyptologists. Unfortunately, acclaimed reader George Guidall doesn't improve upon the modest text. Guidall's mature voice is more reminiscent of an American grandpa than an exotic young king, and the topic's potential for sophisticated mystery is not achieved.
