The Joe Pickett series continues as the Wyoming game warden protects a valued tech executive who is taking part in an elk hunt. But someone following them in the wilderness has it in for the guy. Tension never wavers as narrator David Chandler creates wide-ranging personalities to fit the characters. One man, who has vengeance on his mind, has his speech impaired when he is shot in the face. Another is a man of seemingly few words, which are drawled out only when necessary. And the executive's clipped, slightly nasal tone fits him well. Chandler revels in his narration as Pickett tries to keep his novice hunting companion safe. Those listening will feel as if they are right there on the rugged trails with him.
