FLIGHT TO MONS

This military adventure, set in Britain and France during WWI, highlights a little-known aspect of the conflict, the efforts of the airship corps. Using navigable blimp-like craft, they observed the enemy, attacked U-boats, and sometimes probed behind enemy lines. Airshipman Charlie Holt is tasked with flying into occupied France to spirit out a young woman who possesses vital information that could shorten the war. The routine adventure is much enlivened by the storytelling skills of Peter Wickham, who captures a variety of accents--Scottish, French, and German--and intonations, doing a skilled job even with the women of the plot.
