THE AMBLER WARNING

Hal Ambler, former Consular Operations operative in charge of "wet work," is now considered a security risk and confined to a secret psychiatric facility. The hospital keeps him sedated with drugs that dull his mind, slow his movements, and slur his speech. A sympathetic nurse engineers his escape. On the run, he learns there's a contract on his life, but his killer is shot instead, and not by him. Scott Sowers narrates what should be an action-packed adventure with varying vocal tones, inflections, and accents, but even good narration can't save this poorly plotted, ambiguous Ludlum story.
