CATHERINE WHEELS

With quiet intensity narrator Scott Brick captures the somber tone of this novel as he portrays Thomas, whose life is shattered when his fiancée leaves him at the altar. Seeking healing and seclusion, Thomas joins a college friend who is living the life of a recluse in Northwest Montana as he dies of lupus. When Thomas learns his brother, an Episcopal priest, has committed suicide, Catherine, his 9-year-old niece, arrives to wait for her mother's return. Brick captures Catherine's winsome ways with a joyful voice that is in sharp contrast to the brooding atmosphere of this story.
