Narrator L.J. Ganser draws listeners into Thomas Perry's latest stand-alone thriller, masterfully portraying L.A. attorney Charlie Warren and a multitude of other characters. The complex story begins with a young Charlie working to protect his mother's interests. Later, as a lawyer and accountant, he defends a client from high-stakes financial fraud, but his actions place him, his client, and those close to him in danger. Charlie is smart, brave, physically impressive, and a very appealing character. Ganser skillfully differentiates characters through accent, tone, and rhythm while maintaining the fast pace of the action-filled story. His performance heightens the tension and enhances the twists and turns, making for an engaging listen.
