When Lizabeth Kane, a feisty, unemployed single mother, comes looking for a job from big-hearted builder Matt Hallahan, the romantic sparks fly. With her throaty, distinctive voice, which you will recognize from other Evanovich books, C.J. Critt does a credible job bringing these characters to life. Although the characters’ voices are not particularly distinctive, Critt is so enthusiastic in her portrayals that her delivery does not detract from the overall impression and enjoyment. You will laugh out loud at Evanovich’s eccentric characters, especially the Caddy-driving, wisecracking aunt, the food-stealing dog, and the persistent but less than “blessed” flasher. If you’re looking to “zone out” for a few hours, SMITTEN is your ticket. A.C.P. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 06/ JAN 07]
