Starting at the age of 5 when she is sent from Paris to Yorkshire after her mother dies, this production recounts Estelle's story as she finds her own way through her dreary, unhappy life into the world of ballet. The story itself is a ballet as Maggie Mash reads it. Magically, the characters come out from the page as she comes upon them. They are hidden in a chapter until her imagination touches them and they appear as real people speaking in exactly the right tone with the appropriate sentiments. As with all magicians, the "how-does-she-do-it" factor is overwhelming. Maggie Mash is a great narrator. J.P. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 06/ JAN 07]
