Summarizing Lee's leadership principles at the end of each chapter, Crocker recognizes Lee's genius with military strategy but is even more impressed with his ability to understand the human element—how Lee sized up his leaders, treated them like family, and developed their talents and character. Jonathan Hogan's pacing and enunciation are exceptionally effective. More impressive is his obvious resonance with the pathos and depth of Lee's epic life story, which he enfolds as if it's his own.
