This look at the sordid side of fraternity pledging is professionally rendered by Nick Landrum. The storyteller is Conrad Avery Sutton III, a ghost who was killed by Gamma Chi chapter president and girlfriend beater Ryan Hutchins. Landrum’s intonations and accents provide unique voices for the many male characters and plausible voices for the college girls. His smooth, sophisticated style supports the farcical plot’s twists and infuses Conrad’s revenge with empathy and realistic touches. Landrum persuasively reads the lightly comic situations, those involving “crazy” Miss Etta, for example, as well as the dark, outlandish killings. Landrum’s top-notch performance is a perfect foil for Clarke’s sardonic wit. S.C.A. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 07]
