A HOMECOMING FOR MURDER

by | Read by Mark Hammer

Mystery & Suspense • 10.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1995

A murder mystery set in the deep South has considerable charm, thanks to local color, chiefly in the vivid delineation of its characters. A Mississippi sheriff finds that his own grandson witnessed a murder and is in danger from the killer. He and his neighbors are impersonated by Mark Hammer, who performs as if well acquainted with the terrain. Indeed, his narration style is laconic in the extreme, slow and full of pauses, as if conveying the unhurried manner of the rural scene. He is too measured and precise, academic and untheatrical. The volume could also benefit from better sound quality. Y.R. © AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/NOV 00]
