Junie B. Jones's unique voice continues to give us insights into the trials and tribulations of a well-intentioned but often misled first-grader. As is typical in a Junie B. book, we are treated to the mishaps of her life--like a school play about Columbus's journey to America in which Columbus eventually has to walk to the New World because the ships have all crashed. Junie B. exhibits all her usual humor, and Lana Quintal's energy, pacing, and tone help listeners hear just how exasperated Junie is and how often she must explain the obvious. The production is somewhat marred by the inconsistent quality of the vocal characterizations for the play's supporting cast and crew. J.K.R. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2008]
