IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE

by | Read by Claire Walsh

Fiction • 21 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1992

Four families become involved with each other during WWI. As the plot unfolds, it's difficult to keep in mind that the events are taking place nearly eighty years ago, so contemporary are its joys and heartaches. Claire Walsh's narration captures each family's tale, folding it into a patchwork portrait of a nation trying to recover from the "War to End All Wars." She is strongest in her portrayal of the New York Meyer family but gives a noble attempt at other accents and dialects. Her raspy, breathless voice is distracting at times, but the story holds the listener throughout the presentation. B.L.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: NOV 94]
