MIDWINTER OF THE SPIRIT

The term “exorcism” is frowned upon these days. The term now in vogue is “deliverance ministry.” The Reverend Merrily Watkins is reluctantly forced into a post in the town of Hereford. Since the town is a hotbed of devil worshippers, the occult, and ancient and modern mythology, Merrily will be a busy woman. Narrator Emma Powell perfectly depicts the sacred and profane, fanatics, and the relationship between Merrily and her irreverent daughter, Jane. Powell also excels in presenting the personalities and accents of the other diverse characters as well. Many events occur simultaneously in this story, but Powell keeps listeners on course.
