THE LAST GENTLEMAN

by | Read by Wolfram Kandinsky

Fiction • 16.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1966

Will is a quirky, modern Everyman, a chameleon. He lives alternately by Southern traditions, intuition, cosmic signs, clichés and chance. As his remoteness increases, he watches life through a high-powered telescope yet manages to literally zoom himself into the messy reality of a family. Unlike the dramatically exaggerated view of a telescope, Kandinsky’s presentation is more akin to comfortable reading glasses. He brings the words sharply in focus. Notwithstanding his somewhat wan attempts at feminine voices, his characterizations are engaging and distinct. Unhurriedly and conscientiously, Kandinsky gives depth to this amusing, yet difficult, search for fulfillment in the baffling world. D.J. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG 94]
