Barbara Rosenblatt, an AUDIOFILE Golden Voice, portrays youthful Vicky Bliss, an art historian and expert in lost museum treasures. Vicky becomes involved in adventure and suspense when she and a male colleague travel to a medieval castle in Germany to find a missing work of art made by a sixteenth-century master carver. Rosenblat’s adept pacing renders the tense atmosphere when Vicky has to decide whether she faces a powerful ghost, or someone frighteningly real—someone as determined to kill as she is to find the treasure. With subtle vocal tones and textured characterization, Rosenblat achieves a memorable performance. G.D.W. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2008]
