EPIPHANY

In 1975, five young Californians rent an old barn to use for sex and drug experimentation. When one of them kidnaps and murders a child, they all become involved. One man, Michael Quinn, is arrested and sent to prison. Twenty years later, an Englishwoman begins asking questions about the kidnapping. Quinn is out of prison, and some of the others, well established in their adult lives, are nervous. Peter Marinker brings a chilling edginess to David Hewson's complex storytelling with his dark, ominous baritone. His characterizations are accomplished without unnecessary flair. As fact, memory, and perception circle reality, Marinker's textured reading offers both substance and the unfocused, dreamlike quality of a consciousness altered by LSD.
