When two bodies turn up at the Fenland commune of his aging hippie parents, DCI Will Casey is reluctantly drawn (unofficially) into the case. In addition, he and Sergeant Thomas Catt have to investigate a violent murder on their own turf. Gordon Griffin narrates at a deliberate pace that seems slow for this story, but he enlivens the narrative with his portrayal of Catt's insouciance and Casey's exasperation with his mother and father, who are too high on peace and love (and pot, man) to be of much assistance. Griffin gives each parent an appropriately spaced-out manner, and one cannot help but root for them even through one’s amusement. A.E.B. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2010]
