THIS IS HOW IT ENDS

The story of an unlikely romance between a middle-aged, underachieving Irish woman and an unemployed American financial analyst is rich with the uncertainties and triumphs of everyday people. Stuck caring for her difficult father, Addie drifts through gray days on the coast of Ireland until the surprise arrival of a stranger from New York. Narrator Caroline Lennon portrays Addie’s reluctant interest in Bruno, who seems both warm and ridiculously presumptuous. Lennon’s accent for Bruno is not perfect to an American ear, but it’s somehow forgivable, just like Bruno himself. Addie’s brusque father, facing simultaneous misfortune in his health and career, is characterized with an underlying tenderness.
