Those looking for a novel that imagines the life of Moses should be aware that this isn’t it. Instead, it’s an unconventional story made up of letters, texts, and emails between the novelist Wouk and several people hoping to make a new Moses film. Epistolary novels are not easy to convert into successful audio experiences, and this attempt falls way short. Peter Riegert is a talented narrator with a pleasing voice. However, he only has one voice, making it difficult for the listener to differentiate the authors of the various missives. Zosia Mamet has fewer characters to keep track of.
