When one listens to this WWII comic thriller, narrator Stephen Bowlby inhabits so many distinctive, memorable characters that it's hard to believe he's narrating all by himself. Bowlby gives Los Angeles P.I .Toby Peters a deliberate, sarcastic delivery that lends a calming perspective to all the bizarre happenings that develop. Peters is a man quite out of his element in New York, where he's striving to protect brilliant but absent-minded Albert Einstein and dignified Paul Robeson from Nazis despite the dubious help provided by his babbling dentist friend, Shelly Mink.
