A professor searches for an ancient treasure also sought by Nazis and other villains. Encounters with ferocious fauna and high-speed machines make this story akin to RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, set in the jungles of Peru. Scott Brick does his best to keep up with the nonstop action and enliven the hackneyed prose. The best parts involve the sixteenth-century manuscript the professor has brought along to translate. Here the pace is less frantic as Brick reads with the slight accent of a Spanish priest. Caution: Violence abounds.
