This collection of memories from one of Nelson Mandela's aides is a reflection on the intersection of race and history in South Africa. Adjoa Andoh's narration of author la Grange's interactions with Mandela as one of the white members of his staff is laced with the cadence of South African-accented English. It may take some time for the listener to become accustomed to its rhythms, pronunciations, and pace, but the overall effect is a deeply felt account.
