UNWINDING THE CLOCK Ten Thoughts on Our Relationship to Time

by | Read by Gabrielle De Cuir

Contemporary Culture • 3 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

Although the author is a physicist, her pseudoscientific ruminations on time leave one wondering if humor and entertainment aren't her primary objectives. When she promises to define "exponential" without resorting to mathematics, she uses fractions. Gabrielle De Cuir's light tone makes her sound like a motherly schoolteacher who steps us through some fuzzy logic leading to profound conclusions, such as, "Variation is the mother of all learning." New terms ("prep-time" for example) find their way into her treatise but defy clear definition, maybe because they're Swedish translations. If you're interested in the difference between "fast food" and "slow food," UNWINDING THE CLOCK may enlighten you. J.A.H. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/ MAR 02]
