Jenny Agutter
Jenny Agutter’s performance of BALLET STORIES won the 2002 Audie Award for Children’s Ages 0-7 audiobook, as well as an AudioFile Earphones Award. Listeners could not ask for a better guide than the former ballerina and actress who has appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. Jenny’s love and understanding of the art and history of ballet enriched the program immeasurably. THE SECRET GARDEN, I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, THE ROPE AND OTHER STORIES are a few of her other titles for young people. Her theater life has also included children’s stories. Jenny is known for her television role in “The Railway Children,” (also recorded as an audiobook), and she is making a film about E. Nesbit. Earlier in the year we celebrated Jenny’s reading of MUSIC & SILENCE, a Whitbread Award winner by Rose Tremaine. This historical novel set complex challenges for the narrator, and Jenny found “perfect pitch” for each character and situation. Her numerous recordings of classics by Jane Austen reveal the same attention to nuance and understanding. --2002 Narrator Yearbook
