Will Damron embodies the wacky characters in Hiaasen's latest sardonic look at contemporary America. Damron shines as he portrays the dim-witted Dale Figgo, who, in an afternoon rainstorm, happens upon hitchhiker Viva Morales, a clever but broken divorcee. Damron gives a sympathetic tone to Viva as her troubles increase while working at the Mink Foundation, a crooked philanthropic front with a secret agenda run by an aging couple. When Hiaasen adds Twilly Spree to the mix, Damron creates a crazy-sounding voice for the revenge-seeking environmentalist. Together, Viva and Twilly uncover a network of corruption and a clueless congressman with eyes on an even higher office. Damron delivers this cockamamie take on contemporary America with panache.
