She also provides her thoughts on religion, people's devotion to their pets, adult summer camp, marketing, and show business, among others topics. In general, she takes on a sarcastic and somewhat deadpan tone when describing her family's foibles, and even more so in the other sections. Gurwitch's pacing is comfortably slow, which helps to emphasize her low-key comedic approach.
